Arc Raiders Server Slam — The First Extraction Game That Hooked Me
10/21/2025 • gaming
I didn’t expect much going in, but Arc Raiders surprised me.
It’s the first extraction-type game that actually made me want to play more. I’ve tried others before, but they always lost me after a few matches. This one didn’t — and I think I know why.
The Story Makes Sense
One of my biggest gripes with most extraction games is how random everything feels — you drop in, loot stuff, and leave, with no real reason behind it.
Arc Raiders fixes that. The story gives you a clear purpose for why you’re going up to scavenge supplies and coming back down. It’s simple, but it grounds the gameplay in a way that actually makes sense. Every run feels like part of something bigger rather than just a random loot sprint.
Built for Teamwork
The game does a great job making you want to cooperate. Even without using a mic, there are plenty of tools to communicate — pings, signals, gestures — so you can still work as a team.
It’s rare for an extraction shooter to feel this naturally social. Normally, I just solo or avoid randoms, but here I actually wanted to squad up and help others.
The Gameplay & Feel
I really like the third-person perspective — it gives you a better view of the world and your surroundings, and it fits the sci-fi vibe perfectly. The guns feel satisfying, with a good mix of recoil and punch.
The ARC enemies were tough — maybe because my gear was low-level, but they hit hard and took a while to bring down. Still, that challenge made each fight feel rewarding instead of frustrating.
Why It Stands Out
I didn’t get to play as much as I wanted during the Server Slam — just a few sessions — but even from that, I can tell this game has something special.
Most extraction games make me burn out fast, but Arc Raiders gave me a reason to return.
It’s the first one that made me think: “Yeah, I want to see how this world evolves.”
What’s Next
I plan on playing more when the full release hits — diving into the endgame systems, crafting, and whatever else they’re planning to add. Once I’ve experienced everything, I’ll come back with a full review.
First Impressions Summary
- Story actually explains the extraction loop
- Encourages teamwork, even without voice chat
- Guns feel great and third-person fits perfectly
- ARC enemies are tough but rewarding to fight
- Feels grounded and gives you a reason to care
I didn’t have much time to play, but I already have a good feeling about Arc Raiders. If the final release builds on this foundation, it might become one of the few extraction games that can keep players hooked for the long run.
